RIOT Program
The Ruckus Interoperability and Open Testing (RIOT) initiative is a by-invitation-only certification program developed specifically for IP-enabled multimedia appliance manufacturers. The goal of the RIOT program is to accelerate the deployment of carrier-based IPTV services by simplifying the installation and increasing the flexibility of IP-enabled multimedia appliances through the use of standards based Wi-Fi technology.
All RIOT testing simulates a real-world domestic environment, introducing varying forms of interference, multiple IPTV streams, and different distances and walls between end points. RIOT testing includes quantitative as well as qualitative testing of IP-enabled multimedia appliances with Ruckus Wireless gear.
Benefits of the RIOT program include ...
- Examining a variety of different types of traffic and traffic distribution mechanisms such as constant bit rate and variable bit rate streams, multicast and unicast traffic as well as MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 encoding schemes.
- A complete and accurate measurement of packet loss to determine the real-time quality of video streams sent across a wireless network.
- Performance validation.
