Virtual SmartCell Gateway NFV-based WLAN Controller Designed for Service Providers and Enterprises
Ruckus virtual SmartCell™ Gateway (vSCG), is a Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) based WLAN Controller for service providers and enterprises who desire a carrier-class solution that runs in the cloud. The vSCG supports all of the WLAN Controller features of the industry leading SCG-200, as well as the enterprise oriented SmartZone 100. Implemented with a rich set of new features, the vSCG simplifies and eases the Wi-Fi deployment in both carrier and enterprise environments.
Download vSCG 3.0 When delivered by a managed services provider in their data center, the vSCG enables the deployment of a very scalable, resilient, and fully featured offering that is backed by their service level agreements. This differentiates it from the many controller-less services that are being offered by vendors.
Carrier Class and Enterprise Capabilities
The vSCG was designed for both carrier-class and enterprise deployments. In addition to being scalable, reliable, and manageable, the vSCG also supports value added services such as Ruckus Smart Positioning Technology (SPoT), Smart Bonjour Gateway Support, Hotspot 2.0, SWIPE and SmartCell Insight. All of these, together with other newly added features such as a multi-tenant configuration option and centralized licensing framework, allow users to deploy and configure the most robust Wi-Fi network in different environments. Data plane flexibility comes by splitting out the control plane from the data plane at the AP. Control plane traffic is directed to a vSCG in the data center, while data plane traffic is routed to a point where it can be handed off to the Internet. SPoT Location Based Services
This release introduces support for Ruckus’ Smart Positioning Technology (SPoT) location-based services. Ruckus SPoT™ is the industry’s first cloud-based location technology suite that enables service providers and enterprise customers to deliver a wide range of location-based services. Smartway Bonjour Gateway Support
The SmartWay Bonjour Gateway allows customers to discover Bonjour services (such as AirPlay, Apple TV and other Apple network services) and other mDNS based products like ChromeCast across VLANs and subnets. Hotspot 2.0 based Automatic and Secure Roaming
Hotspot 2.0 enables seamless network discovery and selection along with seamless authentication using 802.1x/EAP. It represents the future of Wi-Fi roaming and has picked up a tremendous amount of support throughout the wireless industry. ETSI NFV Compliant
Designed for use with Ruckus Smart Wi-Fi ZoneFlex™ access points (APs), the Ruckus vSCG runs as a virtual application within either the KVM (Kernel-base Virtual Machine) or VMware vSphere virtualization environments. The vSCG is the first component in a larger Ruckus solution based on the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) NFV architecture.
