Spotcoffee Recomands Ruckus Wireless’ Smart Wi-Fi Solutions

The provider of Wi-Fi access solutions for businesses, local authorities, hotels and the catering industry recommends Ruckus Wireless Smart Wi-Fi products to its customers for setting up their QuickSpot hotspot networks

PARIS, 21 November 2008 – Ruckus Wireless, a provider of systems offering reliable distribution of multimedia content and services over intelligent wireless networks, has announced that its Smart Wi-Fi systems are now being recommended by SpotCoffee, a software editor and Wi-Fi operator with more than 1400 hotspots in France. SpotCoffee recommends the deployment of Ruckus Wireless Smart Wi-Fi solutions, which enable its customers to optimize their Wi-Fi coverage, performance and security with very light management wherever Wi-Fi spots have been set up in cafés, hotels, restaurants, campsites, clinics, marinas, companies in France etc.

SpotCoffee has developed a range of Wi-Fi products called QuickSpot for three different types of usage. QuickSpot 2.0 is a Wi-Fi hotspot providing the customer with secure wireless Internet access whatever his business activity may be. QuickSpot Server is a Wi-Fi management platform with a secure technical infrastructure, which is ideally suited for enabling wireless operators to use several hundred hotspots. Finally, QuickSpot Event is a reliable service for Wi-Fi events, providing all the benefits of more than 5 years of technical expertise in wireless technologies.

Providers of wireless Internet access in public places must be in possession of usage rights for the wireless frequencies that are used, as 2.4 Ghz for Wi-Fi.

In that context, SpotCoffee obtained its operator license registered with the French regulator ARCEP and developed its QuickSpots products. Firstly, these fulfill the company’s legal obligation to ensure that its customers are not held responsible for their users' use of their hotspots and, secondly, they allow SpotCoffee to provide infrastructures willing to offer Wi-Fi access to their customers or visitors with standard hotspot products by committing itself to covering the Quickspot hotspots with its own operating license.

SpotCoffee is always keen to provide the right solutions for its clients' projects and therefore advocates the use of Ruckus Wireless products, in particular the Smart Mesh solution offered by ZoneFlex. Easily deployed thanks to its ergonomic management interface, this solution allows to set up a wireless network with several Wi-Fi access spots, without connecting them through network cables, thereby significantly reducing running costs. The extremely robust and reliable Ruckus Wireless solutions are also in perfect harmony with SpotCoffee’s objective of offering secure Internet access services conforming to market standards as well as to the legal requirements of this business sector.

”We were seduced by the excellent quality/price ratio offered by Ruckus Wireless solutions. The businesses and authorities using our hotspots are either small or large, yet they always require an optimum level of performance and full network coverage. Ruckus represented the best response to our objective of providing the very best service to all of our users, whatever the size of their projects," explained Jean-Charles Ratel, CEO of SpotCoffee.

“We are delighted to become one of SpotCoffee's preferred partners. Our solutions actually perfectly fit with the requirements of SpotCoffee’s partners and customers, especially companies from the hotel industry. Because our products are so easy to install, they can easily get the best out of them even if they don’t have any dedicated IT staff,” said Andrew Bartram, Managing Director for Southern Europe at Ruckus Wireless.

About SpotCoffee
Set up in Paris in 2006 on the same site as Telecom Paris, Spot Coffee started off by taking over part of the Wavestorm business, in particular the management system for the Quickspot hotspots. Having been developed over six months, the new version of the product, Quickspot 2.0 was launched on the market to much acclaim. Spot Coffee develops and markets its solutions via a national network of providers and installers for customers and rapidly reached the 1000 deployed hotspots mark. The Wi-Fi business currently generates traffic of several million pages viewed on Spot Coffee servers and a corresponding level of advertising space can comfortably be sold.
