Ruckus Wireless ZoneFlex Smart Wi-Fi System Now Rated “Avaya Compliant”

ZoneFlex Enterprise Smart WLAN is Compatible with Key Avaya IP Telephony Solutions; Gives Businesses Simple, Seamless Deployment of Smart Wi-Fi for Next-Generation IP Voice

AvayaSUNNYVALE, CA – October 6, 2008 – Ruckus Wireless, a Wi-Fi technology pioneer in the carrier and enterprise wireless LAN markets, today announced that its ZoneFlex™ Smart Wireless LAN (WLAN) system is compliant with key Avaya Internet protocol (IP) telephony solutions from Avaya™, a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services.

The Ruckus Wireless ZoneFlex system gives enterprises, branch offices and small and mid-sized businesses (SMBs) an easy, cost-effective way to leverage next-generation Smart Wi-Fi for a range of uses, including Voice over Wi-Fi and other IP telephony applications, with a single physical WLAN infrastructure that operates as multiple virtual WLANs. As a result, ZoneFlex can support voice data and video – all over the same network. ZoneFlex is compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with Avaya Communication Manager 5.0 and S8300 Server, as well as Avaya Distributed Office.

“As more and more businesses turn to Wi-Fi for their communications and data networking needs, they want to be able to take advantage of open, standards-based technologies that work together seamlessly and don’t require lengthy configurations for interoperability,” said Selina Lo, president and CEO of Ruckus Wireless. “Ruckus compliance with an IP telephony leader like Avaya means enterprises can deploy our respective offerings in plug-and-play fashion and instantly capture the cost, performance and mobility benefits of having next-generation voice applications operate on a more reliable, extended range wireless LAN.”

Ruckus Wireless is a member of the Avaya DevConnect program – an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company’s investment in its network.

As a Gold member of the program, Ruckus Wireless is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab in Lincroft, N.J. There a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure – speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

“By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like Ruckus Wireless who are members of our DevConnect program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities,” said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya. “They are able to use Intelligent Communications to connect employees and customers to information from wherever they are, over whatever device they have available – getting more out of their multivendor network and delivering new value to their bottom line.”

The Ruckus ZoneFlex is a new breed of multimedia WLAN systems that combine new capabilities not found in any other WLAN platform today, including the Ruckus patented wireless beam-steering technology, 802.11n high capacity wireless meshing, network-wide RF management and per-user quality of service control.

Designed for small and large organizations with limited IT resources, ZoneFlex is purpose-built for plug-and-play and ease-of-use, and requires virtually no RF planning or WLAN topology design. A ZoneFlex WLAN can be installed and configured in minutes -- even security and wireless administration of client devices can be automated through the ZoneDirector central management console.
