Ruckus Wireless 'N-Tices' 802.11g Users to 802.11n
Introduces "N-Tice" Program that Gives Users Instant $100 Rebate Off the New Ruckus ZoneFlex 7942 802.11n WLAN System When They Retire and Replace Any 802.11g Product
SUNNYVALE, CA, MARCH 3, 2008 – With the goal of making it painless for enterprises to migrate to new 802.11n products and technology, Ruckus Wireless today announced "N-Tice." N-Tice is a worldwide program designed to give enterprise consistent 802.11n performance while easing the pain of migrating from existing 802.11 technology to the new 802.11n standard.
Starting today the N-Tice program requires 802.11g users to complete an online Certificate of Retirement for one or multiple existing 802.11g access points they want to replace. The program is limited to 1,000 ZoneFlex APs on a first-come, first-served basis. However, there are no limits to the number of 802.11g access points that can be replaced by a single customer. Once completed, users qualify for $100 off the list price of each Ruckus ZoneFlex 7942 (US $699), enabling them to purchase the enterprise-class 802.11n device for US $599.
802.11n is a new standard for faster and farther Wi-Fi. Through the use of advanced techniques that take advantage of multiple Wi-Fi radios, 802.11n promises to deliver more than four times the performance of existing 802.11a/b/g products that top out at a theoretical limit of 54 mbps. But users rarely experience the promises of higher capacities on a consistent basis everywhere they roam.
Ensuring the greatest likelihood that 802.11n techniques, such as channel bonding, frame aggregation and spatial multiplexing, are used is the focus for all Ruckus 802.11n systems. These techniques are fundamental to enabling higher data rates. Ruckus Wireless 802.11n systems are uniquely designed to be smart enough to dynamically determine the correct mode of operation thereby maximizing actual end user throughput.
Ruckus Wireless has augmented the existing 802.11n implementations by adding sophisticated smart antenna technology and quality of service software that controls the routing of Wi-Fi signals in real time, thereby providing the ability to automatically avoid interference and minimize packet loss. This results in greatly extended range as well as higher and more consistent performance across all locations in real world environments.
"With N-Tice, we are taking away the barriers that have prevented enterprises from moving to the next phase of Wi-Fi," said Rob Mustarde, vice president of worldwide sales at Ruckus Wireless. "Enterprises have been telling us that they want to upgrade to 802.11n but have put off migration because of the high prices and concerns about interoperability, real world performance and general reliability of the technology when compared to 11g. The reality is that at last 11n is delivering true, multi-vendor interoperability, and Ruckus is delivering 802.11n in a platform with carrier-class reliability, extended range and signal consistency. To cap it all, it costs less than some vendors' enterprise 802.11g offerings.
"N-Tice delivers the most affordable and highest quality 802.11n system that can be purchased today at effectively half the cost of comparable products while providing unmatched ease of use, extended range and reliability. Now enterprises can easily begin integrating 802.11n into their networks," he said.
To participate in N-Tice, users must simply complete the online Certificate of Retirement form found at http://www.ruckuswireless.com/n-tice. Within 24 hours, users will be contacted regarding the details of purchasing the Ruckus 802.11n products.
