PC Magazine Editors Name Ruckus Wireless Best of Show for Technology Innovation at DigitalLife Exhibition
The Company and Its Products Recognized for Advancing the State of Wi-Fi to Solve the Growing Problem of Predictable Wi-Fi in the Home
DIGITALLIFE EXHIBITION, NEW YORK CITY, October 16, 2006 – Ruckus Wireless today announced that its MediaFlex NG was named Best of Show for Technology Innovation (hardware) at the DigitalLife Exhibition and Conference in New York City. The DigitalLife Best of Show honors mark the twelfth award received by Ruckus Wireless since the introduction of its smart Wi-Fi system in August of 2005.
Unlike self-nominated awards, the DigitalLife Best of Show awards are open to all exhibiting companies. Winners are selected at the complete discretion of editors from PC Magazine who perform extensive due diligence on new and cutting edge products and technologies.
What Won and Why?
Making its debut at the Digital Life show, the new Ruckus MediaFlex NG received top marks for advancing the state of Wi-Fi reliability through ground-breaking smart Wi-Fi technology.
Unlike consumer Wi-Fi products, smart Wi-Fi combines intelligent, software-controlled antennas, advanced traffic engineering to extend Wi-Fi signals and automatically steer them around interference in real time. This enables flicker-free streaming of multimedia applications such as IPTV, digital TV as well as digital voice and music over standard 802.11a/b/g technology.
According to PC Magazine editors, the Ruckus MediaFlex system was selected due to its unique application of innovative technology to solve a real and growing problem: the inability of consumer-grade Wi-Fi to reliably support voice, video and data transmissions within the home.
“Consumers, operators and content providers would all like Wi-Fi to become a reliable utility in the home,” said Bob Payne, VP of business development for Ruckus Wireless. “Even next generation Wi-Fi technology that promises to drastically boost Wi-Fi capacity will still suffer from performance fluctuations and quality of service issues that make it almost impossible to stream multimedia applications and services throughout the home. We’ve solved this problem once and for all.”

Produced by Ziff Davis Media, the Digital Life show is dedicated to educating consumers on what the digital lifestyle means in every aspect of life - at work, home and play.
