Selina Lo Delivers “State of the Home” Address at TelecomNEXT 2006

Examines New Pains and Panaceas Facing Consumers in Moving a New Generation of Multimedia Content around the Home

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, February 13, 2006 – Ruckus Wireless, Inc., credited with developing the world’s first “smart Wi-Fi” technology, today announced that its president and CEO, Ms. Selina Lo, was selected to present at TelecomNEXT 2006 next month in Las Vegas. TelecomNEXT has replaced SUPERCOMM(R) as the U.S. Telecommunication Industry’s annual conference and exhibition.

Known for her brash bravado and controversial insights into all networked things, Ms. Lo will outline how homes around the world will need to change to support the onslaught of digital content coming into the home over the broadband computer line.

Advances in data compression and high speed networking are driving new economic and operational models for delivering voice, video and data content over computer lines. This digital information is typically encapsulated in the Internet Protocol (IP) - requiring new equipment and methods for moving content around the home.

While these advances are providing a new generation of digital services to homes around the world, consumers and carriers now face a new set of problems. Most consumers do not have a computer network in their home. And most carriers don’t run or manage consumer home networks. It is estimated that less than nine percent of U.S. households have a home network today.

Lo will address this dichotomy and discuss new technology innovations that are paving the way for consumers to simply and easily shunt digital multimedia to all corners of the home without wires.

Ms. Lo is widely acknowledged as a visionary and expert in digital communications and networking technology. Recently recognized as the “Private Company Industry Statesman of the Year" by Light Reading, Ms. Lo will debut her new company, Ruckus Wireless, that has developed, for the first time, a way to reliably stream standard and high definition digital IPTV over Wi-Fi.

Ms. Lo’s presentation, entitled “Preparing Home Networks for the Triple Play: Next Steps in Digital Media Distribution over Wi-Fi” is scheduled for Tuesday, March 21 at 11:40 a.m.

“The digital home has been over-hyped and under delivered,” said Selina Lo, CEO of Ruckus Wireless. “Consumers want the talk to stop and the services to start. But the industry’s dirty little secret is that no one has really figured out how to fix the home networking problem. Most providers are planning to rewire subscriber homes. But this is border-line sacrilegious to consumers.”

Lo pointed out that in 2006 and early 2007, U.S. broadband providers will aggressively roll out new digital services such as IPTV to subscribers. “This will be a big year of making progress and mistakes,” said Lo. “But that’s what innovation is all about.”

At TelecomNEXT Ruckus Wireless will conduct demonstrations of streaming high definition, digital TV (HDTV) and multicast IPTV over standard Wi-Fi technology. Visit Ruckus Wireless at booth #2067 at TelecomNEXT 2006 or contact David Callisch at 408-504-5487 for a private demonstration.

TelecomNEXT will be held at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, March 19-23, 2006. For more information on TelecomNEXT, go to www.telecom-next.com.
